5 <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that the Committee was doing terrific work <br />on this program. <br /> <br /> Mr. Butler believed that it was really important that a City <br />should do what it can for and with the arts. He liked the <br />definitions and the visual arts uses. At some time, the performing <br />arts will need to be recognized as well. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver added that he enjoyed working on the Committee. He <br />knew that the Committee had worked hard on the project and had a <br />lot of support from staff. He was looking forward to Phase II. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Ms. Scribner, that <br />Resolution No. 92-175 be adopted, approving the recommended <br />Statement of philosophy, Mission Statement and definition of public <br />art and directed the Art in Public Places Committee to proceed to <br />its next task of making recommendations regarding financial and <br />governance strategies for a public art program for the City. <br /> <br />The Toll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Scribner, Tarver and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Peter MacDonald, 400 Main Street, President of the Chamber of <br />Commerce, presented a proclamation to all City employees. He <br />explained that the Chamber of Commerce had declared a Day of the <br />City Mixer. He explained that this .Mixer was not only for the <br />department heads and the Councilmembers, but for all employees. <br />Mr. MacDonald then read the proclamation that thanked all employees <br />for their hard work. He pointed out that there would be a Chamber <br />Mixer held at the Pleasanton Hotel for all City employees on <br />September 10th from 5:00-7:00 p.m.. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer thanked Mr. MacDonald and stated that this was <br />greatly appreciated. He explained that this was the first time <br />that all of the City employees had been recognized. He stated that <br />it was true that the City is what it is because the City employees <br />work hard at keeping it looking and operating in a successful <br />manner. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohrstatedthat it was her observation that when the City <br />employees are doing their jobs well, nobody notices but when <br />something does not go well people definitely notice. She agreed <br />that it was nice that the Chamber of Commerce recognized the <br />employees. <br /> <br /> Jerry Wagner, owner of the Pleasanton Mobile Home Park, asked <br />that a deadline be set for getting the rent stabilization ordinance <br />to Council.
