148 <br /> <br /> Item 7b <br /> RZ-93-1, City of Pleasanton <br /> Application to amend Chapter 18.74 of the City of Pleasanton <br /> Municipal Code to allow temporary relaxed siqn requlations for Main <br /> Street businesses durinq the M~in street Reconstruction. <br /> (SR93:157) <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico questioned the 25 percent limitation of the window <br /> signs. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift explained how staff established this size for signs. <br /> <br /> Ms. Scribner declared the public hearing open on the <br /> application. <br /> <br /> There being no testimony, Ms. Scribner declared the public <br /> hearing closed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Scribner was concerned with the "A" frame signs. She <br /> would like to see those signs removed from the sidewalks. She was <br /> opposed to extending the percentage on the window signs. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico and Ms. Dennis felt that the merchants need as much <br /> flexibility as possible and supported raising the window covering <br /> percentage. He disagreed with eliminating the "A" frame signs <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr agreed that while the sidewalks are under <br /> construction the "A" frames should not be used because of their <br /> potential hazard. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, that <br /> Ordinance No. 1592 be introduced, to be read by title only and <br /> waiving further reading thereof, amending Chapter 18.74 of the City <br /> of Pleasanton Municipal Code; to allow temporary relaxed sign <br /> regulations for Main Street businesses during the Main Street <br /> Reconstruction allowing A-frame signs on sidewalks after <br /> construction of the sidewalks are complete and increasing the <br /> amount of advertising on window signs to a total of 35%. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Mohr, Pico, and Scribner <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Tarver <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> 04/20/93 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
