REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br /> tem 9a <br />Amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal Code reqardinq skateboards <br />(SR93:117) <br /> <br /> Chris Dickinson, Police Lieutenant, presented the staff <br />report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis asked if there were safety programs for those who <br />skate or skateboard, as there are for bicyclists. <br /> <br /> Lt. Dickinson stated that there were not any programs <br />available at this time. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico believed that this proposal was excessive. He felt <br />that this ordinance should read that it i~ unlawful for a person to <br />ride a skateboard, roller skates, in-line skates or any non- <br />motorized device on any private property open to the public which <br />is signed in accordance the Chapter. <br /> <br /> Jeff Tozier, 2644 Camino Segura, Ross Property Management, <br />explained the liability and safety problems connected with the <br />skating, etc. on his properties. (Photos were presented to <br />Council). He further cited incidents which involved skateboarders <br />which prompted the need for control. <br /> <br /> The following people spoke in support of this amendment: <br />Angelina Summers, 4750 Sutter Gate Avenue, and Patricia Poulos, <br />2890 Victoria Ridge Court. <br /> <br /> The following spoke in opposition to this ordinance: Tadashi <br />Omaoda and Jason Hallet, Amador Valley High School students. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr asked if there was any hope that the availability of <br />liability insurance had eased so that a skating park could be <br />built. <br /> <br />04/20/93 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
