The process is set up to allow Council to award funds and
the Human Services Commission would make recommendations.

Ms. Acosta added that the Commission would review applications and set priorities based
on the funding levels.

Shelby Martin, President of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, 450 Main Street,
//202, requested that the Pleasanton Convention and Visitors Bureau be removed from this
process. This Bureau is a non-profit organization which operates under the Chamber of
Commerce's umbrella. However, the Chamber and the CVB Board would like to discuss this
issue directly with City staff and City Council.

Ms. Acosta indicated that staff was trying to focus getting the application process and
criteria approved and establishing a monitoring process from this point. Staff would be
suggesting (on a separate agenda item) that the City contract with Channel 30 and Convention
and Visitors Bureau as an example. Staff would not suggest that those groups be considered by
the Human Services Commission regarding the budget proposal.

Council agreed to have staff bring back its recommendations for who should be
considered under this policy.

It was moved by Ms. Scribner, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, that Resolution No. 93-19
be adopted, adopting a policy for allocating funds and facilities to human service/community
service organizations.

The roll call vote was aS followS:
AYES: Councilmembers Mohr, Pico, Scribner and Mayor Tarver
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

02/02/93 8
