REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br /> Item 6a <br /> Council priorities for community television pro_m-ammlng on Channel 30 (SR93:341) <br /> <br /> Mr. Bocian presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Charlotte Severin, Tri-Valley Community Television Corporation, asked Council what <br /> it thought was the most effective programs that are offered and its opinion of the proposed video <br /> newsletter. <br /> <br /> In response to Council's concerns, Ms. Severin explained that the 580-680 News was the <br /> most watched program. Ms. Severin explained that each city has two Council appointed <br /> representatives and three at-large representatives. The Board meets approximately once a <br /> month. Chris Sherwood, Pleasanton City staff person, attends these meetings as well a staff <br /> representative from each city. <br /> <br /> Darla Stevens, Tri-Valley Community Television Corporation, explained the financing <br /> of each of the programs that are produced. She and Ms. Severin explained the editing process <br /> and programming. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver did not believe that the visual commercials that are shown on Community <br /> Television were appropriate <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico suggested continuing this item until Council is able to get staff's perception on <br /> the newsletter and an update on televising Council meetings. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta pointed out that the City newsletter item would be coming to Council on <br /> September 7, 1993 and September 21, 1993 for its review and comments. <br /> <br /> 12, MEETINO QPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Octoberfest <br /> <br /> Gary Schwaegerle, Jaytees Vice President, requested approval of the Octoberlest at the <br /> Senior Center. He explained that staff was concerned with having a large crowd in the building <br /> (fire safety). Mr. Schwaegerle asked Council to allow him to advertise outside of the City to <br /> bring more people to join the festivities and to make a profit. His intent was to have two shows <br /> (lunch and dinner). He added that the most of ticket sales are at the door. <br /> <br /> 08/17/93 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
