Funding - 4

occupancy tax generated in the first five years will be
$158,343. Sales tax will be $140,764. Total revenues
generated ~or the businesses of Pleasanton could be a high as
$18,~,e in the tirst five years. If the Pleasanton
Convention and Visitors Bureau is successfulls extending the
five year contract for an additional 20 years, this one
piece of business could bring $75,0~0,~. in revenues to the
businesses in Pleasanton, California. This equates to
$1,5~,0OO in city tax revenue, conservatively.

As I mentioned before, it has taken the Convention and
Visitors Bureau nearly four years to bring this one piece of
business to Pleasanton. It goes without saying that
throughout the state of California there are many, many other
conventions oZ this type which would be well suited for
Pleasanton. in this day and age where city revenues~!;ate
continually lost to both the state and county, it is good to
know that through organizations such as the Convention &

Visitors Bureau, we can go outside of the city and bring tax

dollars back into the city, through transient occupanc~I'~G'
sales taxes. Ot all the varied arms of the city o~
Pleasanton, the Convention and visitors Bureau is the only

funded sales organization which can increase revenues without
increased development or taxation to the city and its
residents.

We hope you will commit to a long-term funding program
