Funding - 3 <br /> <br /> this year, and in donating our time to insure the CVB's <br /> <br /> success. <br /> <br /> Scottish Games <br /> <br /> The Convention and Visitors Bureau was formed in 1988. <br /> <br /> One of its primary objectives was to bring conventions and <br /> <br /> large groups from outside of the city into Pleasanton to help <br /> <br /> increase the tax revenues of the city .visa i transient <br /> occupancy tax and city sales tax. One of the first <br /> <br /> conventions identified was the Caledonian Club of San <br /> <br /> Francisco. This fraternal club of families with Scottish <br /> lineage, meets once a year for several days and conducts <br /> <br /> Scottish heritage games, bagpipe playing and miscellaneous <br /> other events throughout the Labor Day Weekend. For the last <br /> 27 years, they have met at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in <br /> <br /> Santa Rosa California. Last year, they brought nearly <br />::clbpeople also patronized hotels, restaurants, shops and <br /> <br /> throughout Santa Rosa, spending thousands of dollars. <br /> <br /> In 1994, the Caledonian Club of San Francisco will begin <br /> <br /> a five year contract to hold their games at the Alameda <br /> County fairgrounds here in Pleasanto~!/~If all goes well in <br /> those.fist ~ive years, the Caledonians have agreed to extend <br /> this contract an additional 20 years.
