Funding Page - 2

spending. Together with City representatives we came up with
a 36% decrease ($67,~W~a) in city funding in 1992-93.

We have shown our commitment to helping the city reduce
budgets where ever possible. We have reduced our budget
significantly while continuing to help provide the fourth
largest revenue producing source for the city. Anything
lower than $118,~ per year in city funding does not allow
the Convention and Visitors Bureau to operate effectively.
The Board of Directors for the CVB voted a 25% increase in
membership dues for 1993 and support was overwhelming from
the members. We have 56 members that represent a cross
section of businesses in Pleasanton from hotels and
restaurants to travel agencies, print shops, limousine
services, barber shops, florists, personnel services, sign
shops, tuxedo shops, movie theaters, wineries and the
Fairgrounds. We have increased our membership 29% since last
year, showing our commitment to membership growth as a way to
help with funding down the road. We have a Board of
Directors that includes Lilly Ault of Hacienda Business Park,
Alexis Gass of Clover Creek, Peter Bailey of t~e Alameda
County Fairgrounds, Shelby Martin of the Chamber of Commerce,
Bob Cordtz of Plum Tree Inn, Wente Brothers Winery and
several local hotel general managers. We feel we are all
making a strong commitment to Pleasanton and the Convention
and Visitors Bureau by supporting the 25% increase in dues
