40 <br /> <br /> There being no testimony, Mr. Tarver declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Seribner, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, that Resolution No. 93-64, <br /> be adopted, confirming the Downtown Pleasanton Advisory Board report and levying the 1994 <br /> assessment. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Mohr, Scribner and Mayor Tarvet <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAIN: Councilmember Pico <br /> <br /> Item 14b <br /> AP-93-04 ~.TP-93--14), Hone HosDice, Inc, <br /> Ap_t~al by the City_ Council of a decision of th~ Planning Commission approving an application <br /> for a conditional use permit to establish a secondhand store within the existing building located <br /> at 400 Main Street. Zoning for the prOp~rty_ is PUD (Planned Unit Development~ - Central <br /> COmmercial. Core Area Overlay, DOwntOwn Revitalization District (SR93: 196) <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver declared the public heating open on the application. <br /> <br /> Louis Pelligini, 2660 Camino Segura, President of Board of Directors for Hope Hospice, <br /> concurred with the staff report and staff recommendations. He asked for approval for the <br /> conditional use permit. Mr. Pelligini explained the history of this application and the efforts <br /> put forth to meet all of the concerns of the other businesses downtown. His goal is to present <br /> an up-scale image with nicer merchandise than other known thrift stores. <br /> <br /> In response to Ms. Mohr's concerns, Mr. Pelligini stated that most people will call the <br /> store before coming to drop off clothing, etc. Very rarely are shopping bags found to be <br /> dropped off and to his knowledge there has not been any furniture. The prices vary but the shop <br /> is focused on the needs of business people. Mr. Pelligini pointed out that he has requested two <br /> 20-minute parking spaces in the back of the store for drop-off purposes. <br /> <br /> Joanne Howard, 7750 Country Lane, Executive Director of Hope Hospice, spoke in <br /> support of this application. (Petitions and letters were given to Council). She explained the <br /> purpose of Hope Hospice and the reason it originally located in this city. <br /> <br /> 05/18/93 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
