Scott Guggenheim, 4225 Stanley Boulevard, Executive Director of Children's Theatre <br />Workshop, reviewed the staff report and explained the current operation and budget of CTW. <br />He explained the possible move to Livermore because of the need for a permanent home. He <br />further explained what support was forthcoming from surrounding cities. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tan, er inquired how the $100,000 deficit had occurred. <br /> <br /> Mr. Guggenheim reviewed the unexpected expenses and how CTW had accumulated the <br />debt. <br /> <br /> Council discussed various ways to assist the company and how to monitor its financial <br />condition in order that this debt not continue to accrue. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Pico, and seconded by Mayor Tarver, to allow a one year grace <br />period for the payment of $9,000 in past rent for Areadot Theater and for the City to authorize <br />an advance purchase of $10,000 in tickets for the 1994 season with the Parks and Community <br />Services Department to distribute the tickets to the youth of the community for further exposure <br />to CTW; and to adopt the four staff recommendations. <br /> <br /> A substitute motion was made by Ms. Scribner, seconded by Ms. Mohr, to allow a one <br />year grace period for payment of the $9,000 in past rent for the Areadot Theater; approve the <br />staff recommendations; and to refer to the Parks and Community Services Department, Cultural <br />Arts Committee, or other appropriate board to review long term solutions to CTW's financial <br />problems. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follOWS: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Mohr, Seribner and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: Councilmember Dennis and Pico <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> There was a break at 9:25 p.m. <br /> <br /> The meeting was reconvened at 9:35 p.m. <br /> <br />13, MATYERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br /> <br /> There were none. <br /> <br />12/14/93 - 7 - <br /> <br /> <br />
