109 <br /> <br />Item 6b <br />Purchase of Structural Fire Engine (SR93:442) <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis asked how much money is expected to be saved by purchasing the truck <br />through the San Jose bidding process. <br /> <br /> Chief Withers answered between $50,000 - $100,000. The City will try to sell the old <br />truck to a smaller city or to a volunteer department. Mr. Withers indicated that there will be <br />opportunities of using this bid process with other cities in the future. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta added that the old vehicle(s) will be stripped of equipment that can be used <br />on the new vehicle. The Tri-Valley cities are reviewing and considering options to use and <br />borrow each other's equipment. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Ms. Scribner, approving the purchase of <br />one new fire engine on the San Jose Fire Department Bid, from Hi-Tech Emergency Vehicle <br />Service and approving the appropriation of approximately $250,000 to cover the cost of this <br />vehicle from the Fire Vehicle Replacement Fund, the Emergency Medical Services Fund, and <br />the Miscellaneous CIP. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Mohr, Pico, Scribner and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Item 6c <br />Request for Support to Obtain Federal Funding to Construct 1-580/1-680 Interchange and <br />Route 84/1-580 Interchange <br /> <br /> Bill van Gelder, Traffic Engineer, presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> In response to Council' s concerns and questions, Mr. van Gelder explained the funding <br />sources for these projects.
