83 <br /> <br />The r011 Call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Mohr, Pico, Scribner and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Item 6d <br />Item 4n <br />AdOpt Ordinance No. 1609, Amending Chapter 9.24 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br />Concerning Smokina in PubHe and Work Places <br /> <br /> Patricia Lloyd, 4694 Carson Court, spoke in opposition to this ordinance because of the <br />enforcement problem, loss of business. She objected to the way her tax dollars are being spent. <br /> <br /> The following spoke in opposition m this ordinance: Adrienne Roberts, 4130 Alvaratio <br />Street; Amie Faria, 622 1/2 Main Street; Daniel Soria, 5420 San Jose Drive; Porter Hurt, owner <br />of Shaboom: Char Clilland, 5189 Independence Drive; and Gordon Ambrose, Union Jack Pub, <br />725 Main Street, (Mr. Ambrose presented a petition). <br /> <br /> The following citizens requested that the adoption of this ordinance be continued to <br />enable citizens and business owners to gather information regarding the economic, health and <br />social effects that may be imposed on them: Matt Duffy, 6188 Crater Lake Court; Scott Hendell, <br />7626 Cottonwood Lane; Richard Cox, 5006 Hummingbird Road; and Laura Field, 644 Hartley <br />Drive, Danville. Ms. Field asked that Council consider bars and restaurants separately. <br /> <br /> A1 McGiboney, owner of Elvira's Castle, 537 Main Street, (presented a petition to <br />Council). Mr. McGiboney spoke in opposition to this ordinance and expressed his concern <br />regarding the potential loss of business he will experience. <br /> <br /> Robert Boberian, owner of Popi Lounge, 3059 Hopyard Road, spoke in opposition to the <br />ordinance. He pointed out that only persons over 21 only are allowed in his businesses. <br /> <br /> Brad Cotton, Hickory Pit and Lounge, explained that his restaurant and bar are separate <br />and felt that it was unfair to completely ban smoking from his business. <br /> <br /> Bruce Fiedler, Administrator for Pleasanton Gardens, believed that this ordinance should <br />be enforced in the workplace.
