Mr. McGee said the lines in the south Livermore through Wente's golf course
would be 230kv lines.

Mayor Tarver reiterated that the lines would tie into the Vallecitas power plant, go
above ground until the Ridge and then go underground through Pleasanton.

Ms. Ayala asked how the lines would go through Livermore.

Mr. McGee said a substation would be built approximately one mile from the
230kv transmission line. He said if the power supply at the Contra Costa power plants
are not great enough, the Vineyard 230kv line would not be connected, rather another
new 230kv line would be run along the southern corridor.

Ms. Ayala asked if the line would look different.

Mr. McGee said no. The towers are already in existence. He described the third
alternative, which is primarily above ground.

Ms. Dennis asked if the third alternative is along E1 Charro.

Mr. McGee said E1 Charro is one of the alignments being considered.

Ms. Ayala asked what will happen when the Chain of Lakes is complete. She did
not think the Chain of Lakes wants the power lines above ground.

Mr. McGee said that has been taken into account. The community input received
so far has indicated that alternative C would not be acceptable.

Ms. Ayala asked what is the next step in the process.

Mr. McGee said there will be other opportunities for further public input and
PG&E will be back before Council at a later date with a recommendation.

Ms. Ayala asked which alternative is the least expensive.

Mr. McGee said altemative A. He said all three alternatives are feasible for
engineering, economic and environmental reasons.

Ms. Michelotti said in both A and B alternatives the power lines are underground
in Pleasanton.

Mr. McGee said yes.

Mayor Tarver asked if PG&E expected to be in the same dilemma it was in ten
years ago because of public concerns.

Pleasanton City Council 7 07\06\99
Minutes
