Mr. McGee said today's solutions are very different projects than the one
formulated ten years ago.

Ms. Michelotti stated that from now to 2002 there are some projects that are
approved and will go forward. How will PG&E handle increased demands from the
residential and business community in the next two years?

Mr. McGee said PG&E will handle increased demands from the residential and
business community in the next two years. He said PG&E has studied that and it can add
additional distribution circuits to meet approved growth until 2002.

Ms. Ayala pointed out that Mr. McGee was only talking about what has been
approved, not what will be approved in the future.

Mayor Tarver asked if there was any surplus capacity available.

Mr. McGee said approximately 20 megawatts of additional capacity have been
added for Pleasanton's use only.

Ms. Ayala asked if Pleasanton is already 50% under capacity because Pleasanton
is borrowing from San Ramon.

Mr. McGee said generally speaking the additional 100 watts in the Pleasanton
area is coming from the additional capacity in the San Ramon area. This needs to be
changed because in 2002 San Ramon will probably be at capacity.

Mayor Tarver wanted to understand that PG&E has the situation under control
and that there will not be power problems in the Valley.

Mr. McGee said if the schedule outlined on the chart can be met, there will not be
power problems in the area.

Ms. Ayala asked if the hot weather continues will there be brown-outs in
Pleasanton this summer.

Mr. McGee said no. He gave an overview of the alignments for the project.

Ms. Ayala asked where the utilities would be above ground?

Mr. McGee said the utilities will be above ground from the Contra Costa/Newark
line through the Valley and then be placed underground by Vineyard. All of Pleasanton
would be underground.

Ms. Ayala asked if there were any 230kv lines.

Pleasanton City Council 6 07\06\99
Minutes
