Foreign Wars. He also would like the City to arrange for first aid and clean up after the event.
He explained the concept of the Veterans Day Parade and felt it was important to honor all
veterans. He also invited everyone to attend the Memorial Day ceremonies at the cemetery on
Sunol Boulevard to be held at 11:30 a.m. He listed the members of Post 6298.

Mayor Tarver understood the request, based on the staff report, would be $113 in addition
to what was indicated would be the City's cost.

Ms. Acosta said the insurance requirement was waived and cleanup would cost the City
approximately $500. The request for first aid is a new. The cost of policing costs approximately
$1100 per day. The cost for paramedic services might be the same. Therefore the total cost to
setup, cleanup, provide police, and paramedic services is approximately $2700.

Mr. Callender was not asking the City to waive the insurance. He is asking the City to
fund the cost of the insurance.

Ms. Acosta said the City does not provide parade insurance.

Mr. Callender asked what would happen if someone sued the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was trying to protect the organization by asking the City to provide the insurance.

Ms. Acosta reiterated again that the City does not provide parade insurance. The City's
- insurance covers anything that is a liability.

Mr. Callender asked if the City would provide first aid.

Ms. Ayala asked if the normal procedure was to have paramedics available.

Ms. Acosta said paramedics are available for parades, but there is a cost for these
services.

t.
