requested changes. He felt the best thing to do was to meet with the Nelsons', so they can point
out the discrepancies.

Ms. Michelotti withdrew her direction pending the outcome of the meeting.

Ms. Nelson agreed a verbatim transcript would make the minutes very long. Her only
request was to have the comments that were approved at the last meeting incorporated into the
minutes.

Mayor Tarver said there is a verbatim transcript. If there is anything that the Nelsons
would like to have in the minutes that are verbatim, he was certain staff would accommodate.

Ms. Nelson felt the verbatim minutes that were given to her were not verbatim.

Mayor Tarver appreciated her perspective and staffs perspective. The only way to
resolve this is a very embersome process, but staff has direction to meet with her and
incorporate whatever verbatim comments she would like to have incorporated.

Ms. Nelson asked him again to clarify the direction to staff.

Mayor Tarver said staff has been directed to meet with her regarding what she would like
the minutes to reflect. Staff will bring the minutes back for approval.

Ms. Acosta said it is not fair sometimes to only include verbatim comments from one
perspective and not include the balancing verbatim comments.

Mayor Tarver said the direction is to present a balanced approval.

Chfis Testa, Pleasanton Middle School, asked for Council's support in building a BMX
track. He said there is a strong desire among the middle school students for this sport. He has
approached the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Youth Commission. He was told the
cost would be minimal and like the skate board park there would be no liability.

Dale Renten, Harvest Park Middle School, said BMX is a good activity for the youth. He
said the City of Livermore has a BMX track and the kids would like a track in Pleasanton. He
thanked the Council for its support.

Mayor Tarver said they were well organized and doing the fight thing.

Ms. Michelotti asked if they used the track in Sunol.

Pleasanton City Council 7 03/16/99
Minutes
