It was moved by Ms. Dennis, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to adopt Resolution No. <br />99-032, approving the allocation of Federal and City funds relative to the Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for Fiscal Year 1999 (99/00). (SR99:78) <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, and Mayor Tarver. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Michelotti. <br />ABSTAIN: Councilmember Pico <br /> <br />Item 6f <br />Approval of proposed Tri-Va!ley Housing scholarship program to be funded through the <br />Federal H.O.M.E. Program for Fiscal Year 1998 (98/99). (SR99:79) <br /> <br /> Steven Bocian presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis said this program has been very successful in the City of Fremont and hoped <br />all the agencies in the Tri-Valley area would cooperate to ensure the success of the program. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Randy Fewel, Allied Housing, 22245 Main Street, Suite 200, Hayward, wanted the <br />program to be something that is earned. She felt it would be more special and landlords more <br />willing to participate if the people have to work towards a scholarship. She explained how the <br />Fremont program worked. She was very excited about this program. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala was encouraged by the program and hoped she would be able to tell the <br />Council about families that have successfully made it through the program. <br /> <br /> Ms. Fewel said there are already three families that have been approved for the program. <br /> There being no further speakers, the public hearing was closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Ms. Dennis, to adopt Resolution No. <br />99-033, approving the overall funding allocation for the CDBG program for fiscal year <br />1999 (99/00) as shown in Table A; directing staff to submit the annual action plan and <br />related documentation for FY1999 to HUD by the applicable deadlines; and authorizing <br />the City Manager to enter into contracts with subgrantees for FY1999 funding and to take <br />all other necessary actions to carry out the CDBG program for FY 1999. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 9 03/24/99 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
