PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />Item 7a <br />(1) Review and adopt 1994-95 Operating Budget and allocate HCD Funds; Housing, <br />Community Development Block Grant; and (SR94:238) <br /> <br />(2) Review and adopt Capital Improvement Program (SR94:242) <br /> <br /> Jerry Thorne, 5144 Hummingbird, President of Pleasanton Seahawks Swim Team, <br />encouraged Council to approve funding for a 50 meter swimming pool in the City of Pleasanton. <br />He stated that other swimming groups have joined his effort in getting this type of facility <br />approved. He asked for a show of hands of those who were present this evening in support of <br />this item and the majority of the audience raised their hands. Mr. Thorne explained that he has <br />supported this effort for the past four and a half years and reviewed all the presentations he has <br />made before various agencies, including the City Council, School Board, and task force. He <br />then listed the forthcoming speakers and briefly described their accomplishments, scholastically <br />and athletically. <br /> <br /> The following people spoke in support of the 50 meter swimming pool: Dave Huston, <br />6440 Stoneridge Mall Road, #K209; Keri Thome, 5144 Hummingbird Road; Joe Loftus, 8707 <br />Wicklow Court; Maria Elm, 4884 Golden Road; Steve Webb, 7676 Fairoaks Drive; Katy <br />Hartshorn, 3152 Chardonnay Drive; Corey Kilpatrick, 5873 Corte Mente; Melissa Lewis, 3016 <br />Calle de !a Mesa; Jennifer Leas, 6176 Via de los Cerros; Janet Yarbrough, 4560 Eull Court; <br />Steve Morsilli, coach of the Seahawks, 420 San Diego Place, San Ramon; Bob Sanchez, 3017 <br />Melbourne. <br /> <br /> Kenneth Hamm, 3333 Harper's Ferry Court, representing a Pleasanton Catholic Church, <br />referred to the public improvements on Stoneridge Drive. He referred to the agreement for the <br />church to build one traffic lane and sidewalk improvements. This appears to be insufficient and <br />he urged Council to proceed with improvements on this road. <br /> <br /> Connie Cox, President of the Valley Trails Homeowners Association, thanked Council <br /> for its cooperation and for including them in the budget. <br /> <br /> Tadashi Yamaoda, 3405 Byron Court, representing skateboarders, urged Council to <br /> provide funding to build a skateboard park. <br /> <br />07/19/94 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
