Mr. Swift indicated that there are maps available, but they do not show if or where the
earthquake fault lines are located because there was no indication of a surface or near surface
rupture at the site.

Mr. Roush stated that an owner would be well advised to disclose all of the information
that is listed in the staff report when selling their lot(s).

There was discussion regarding the Calavares Fault.

Margaret Tracy, 1262 Madison Avenue, Livermore, representing the Board of Directors
of Preserve Area Ridgelands Committee, believed that unique natural resources should be
preserved and left in open space so that structures are not likely to suffer from the after effects
of an earthquake or landslide.

David Glenn, 5650 Foothill Road, 94588, referred to the staff report attachment
"Geologic Studies...Summary and Chronology". He requested a continuation of these hearings
for Dave Rodgers and Mark Seeley's testimony and a review of the geotechnical records before
the next hearing. Mr. Glenn commended staff for its report/attachment and believed that it was
very thorough.

Ted Fairfield, 5510 Sunol Blvd., consulting Civil Engineer, briefly described his
participation in the geological studies and the use of the many geologists used. He did not
believe that it was necessary for additional studies. He commended Mr. Swift for his work on
and knowledge of this project. Mr. Fairfield offered any information that he was aware of to
further help Council make a decision.

Mike Hornig, 1956 Regulus Court, Livermore, owner of Lot #63, felt that additional
studies were needed before issuing any more building permits.

Karl Hsu Kai Yang, 825 Hopkins Road, owner of Lot #25, asked if there was similar
types of controversy when the developments to the south and north were built.

Mr. Swift listed each of the subdivisions and the studies, if any, that were conducted.
In response to Mayor Tarver, Mr. Swift was aware of two homes in Castlewood that were
destroyed by landslides.

Gary Schwaegerle, 189 West Angela Street, suggested that the remaining lots should be
required to have an individual soils report.

Sharrell Michelotti, 7873 Olive Court, asked how far down did the trenching occur on
the site when the studies were being conducting.

Mr. Swift estimated 15 to 20 feet.

05/17/94 6
