MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION

Item 6a
Mid-Year Budget Review (SR94: 100)

Ms. Rossi presented the staff report.

In response to Mr. Pico, Ms. Rossi explained that when the City adopted its budget the
State's budget had not yet been adopted. The City projected a $900,000 deficit. As a result of
the State adopting its budget, that deficit grew another $500,000. With the savings that is
reflected at mid-year, the number has been increased to $700,000. Next year's deficit will be
approximately $1.5 million but there is approximately $3.1 million in the recession reserve to
cover there deficits.

Ms. Acosta added that the City staff has been working very hard to continue to look for
ways to make reductions.

04/19/94 8
