E. Employees submitting requests for tuition <br /> reimbursement shall provide the Personnel Officer <br /> an official receipt from the college or university <br /> verifying the payment Of tuition and an official <br /> transcript of the grades received for which tuition <br /> is requested. <br /> <br />16.9 Book Reimbursement <br /> <br /> Employees enrolled in the Educational Incentive Plan <br /> shall be eligible for the reimbursement of books <br /> required for those classes taken as part of their <br /> approved educational program. The amount reimbursed <br /> shall be the purchase price of the books less the moneys <br /> received from their resale. No reimbursement for books <br /> shall be received for any class not successfully <br /> completed with a grade of "C" or better. <br /> <br /> Employees submitting requests for reimbursements for <br /> books shall submit to the Personnel Officer the original <br /> purchase receipt in addition to the receipt showing the <br /> moneys received through resale of said books. <br /> <br /> If, however, the books are determined by the Personnel <br /> Officer to be an asset to the City, the Personnel <br /> Officer may elect at his discretion to reimburse the <br /> employee the full cost of said books, the latter <br /> becoming the possession of the City. The Personnel <br /> Officer's decision regarding the purchase of textbooks <br /> shall be final. <br /> <br />Section 17. Probationary Period <br /> <br />17.1 Length of Probationary Period <br /> <br /> All original appointments shall be tentative and subject <br /> to a probationary period of eighteen (18) months actual <br /> service. All appointments as a result of lateral <br /> transfers or re-employment shall be tentative and <br /> subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) months <br /> of actual service. All promotional appointments to the <br /> position of Police Officer shall be tentative and <br /> subject to a probationary period of eighteen (lS) months <br /> of actual service. All promotional appointments to the <br /> classification of Police Sergeant shall be tentative and <br /> subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) months <br /> actual service.
