answer was that it was a local issue, the State would not get involved with it and that if he came
to Pleasanton, that is exactly what he would say.

Ms. Dennis asked about the funds from the sale of this property and if there is a process
where people could participate in deciding the use of those funds. Should the Council's action
be to tell the developer to go ahead and hold a meeting, will Mr. Whittaker attend that meeting,
along with School Board members, in order to answer questions.

Mr. Eddinger mentioned that some Board members have suggested that the money from
the sale of this land be used for Walnut Grove improvements since that school is most impacted
by not building a school on the Del Prado site. He feels that Mr. Whittaker's attendance won't
make a difference.

Ms. Michelotti questioned the process of putting the property out for bid. This was the
second go-around since a church first sought to purchase that property. She asked if the process
is complete since a bid has been accepted.

Mr. Tom Pico asked about the Sycamore property which was sold and inquired what was
done with those proceeds. He also asked about the Herald article which stated that if the
Council didn't agree with the land use request on the Del Prado site that the School District was
likely to relook at its decision to cooperate with the City in the San Francisco annexation issue.
He asked if there were any validity to the article.

Mr. Eddinger stated that the District has not received the proceeds yet, but when it does,
he felt the money should be spent on the five capital projects that were discussed. Mr. Eddinger
then referred the Council to a letter that had been sent from the School District that states that
the School District will cooperate on the San Francisco annexation matter.

Ms. Dennis questioned whether the Council should tell the developer to go ahead and
"take his best shot" and hold a neighborhood meeting. She then asked if Mr. Whittaker would
come to that meeting, along with one or two School Board members, so that if anyone questions
what the School Board has done, there would be an opportunity for questions and answers.

Mr. Eddinger felt some of the residents are looking for something that will change the
Board's decision and that is not going to happen.

Mayor Tarver stated he felt that if local and state officials, and the developer, get
together and discuss the issues, a solution will be found. He felt that the attitude, which some
of the residents believe the School Board holds, has caused the residents to question the process
by which the decision was made to sell the site.

Ms. Sue Evans, 5610 Paseo Navarro, was unhappy with the School District and wanted
the Del Prado site saved for another elementary school.

05/09/95 -8-
