Ms. Michelotti indicated she had spoken to Candy Phillips and Hannelore
Homorody prior to this meeting. Mrs. Homorody had indicated her son works at night
and needs to sleep in the daytime.

Jim Keeney, 3471 Windsor Court, indicated there has been no problem with the
day care facility. His concern was with the tactics being used by those opposed to the
use and the way it is dividing the neighborhood. The neighborhood was sent notice of
the application and no one objected until the "recruiting" started. Mr. Keeney referred
to the incredible need for day care facilities and supported this application.

GraceDaryl Dickinson, 3466 Windsor Court, supported the child care facility and
indicated she had seen no traffic problems. Ms. Dickinson believed traffic was much
worse when there were teenagers living in the neighborhood.

Wilma Thomas, 3463 Windsor Court, indicated she had lived in the neighborhood
when Ms. Phillips operated the previous day care facility. Ms. Thomas indicated the day
care facility was in operation almost four months before she realized it was there. She
has not noticed any traffic problems or more than one car at a time at the Phillips'
residence. She believed the Phillips have gone out of their way to get along with the
neighborhood. She reiterated the great need for day care facilities in Pleasanton and
urged Council approval.

Sally Leonard, representing Resources for Family Development, 1520 Catalina
Court, Livermore, presented three points: 1) a family child care home is not a child
care center and is allowed in residential areas; 2) there are 125 child care homes in
Pleasanton and 25 of them are licensed for twelve children - she has seen no problems
when a home increases from six to twelve children; and 3) traffic is generally staggered -
not all parents arrive at once and there may not always be twelve children at one time.

Barbara Meridith, 3484 Windsor Court, indicated she had seen no problem in the
prior day care or with the current operation. She urged Council to support the continued
operation.

Marilyn Poffenbarger, indicated she had obtained a long list of child care facilities
in Pleasanton and proceeded to start eliminating those that did not meet her needs,
whether for geographic reasons, those with age limitations, those that only take before
or after school children, facilities that are full, or whatever reason. The list kept
shrinking and she was afraid she would have to settle for second best. Mrs. Poffenbarger
was overcome by emotion. She believed the Phillips were the best she had encountered.
_ It is very hard to find good day care.
