Ms. Acosta indicated the rest of the Council may not agree the can size is appropriate
and if that is so, then if staff orders the cans now, next week when this is discussed again, we
will have cans ordered that will not be used.

Ms. Mohr indicated some people have backyard tomposting and do not need the cans at
all. The fact is the Mayor has the right of asking for the continuance. Since we cannot vote
on anything tonight, we should save the discussion for when the rest of the audience is here.

Mr. Tarver felt discussion was good so people know how the Council is thinking and
next week they can come and tell us if they disagree.

Mr. Molinaro indicated he would be out of town on August 20 and requested the matter
be put over to September 3.

Mr. Bocian indicated staff would prefer August 20, because they wanted to get the
containers out by Fail. This may put us into mid-October, but staff has always worked well
with PGS and if that is what it prefers, then staff will accept that.

Ms. Acosta indicated the differences among the three Councilmembers tonight is a good
indication there will be further differences when the other two Councilmembers are present.
Ms. Acosta referred to the fact that Chris Sherwood will be leaving the City and thanked him
for all his work in bringing this issue to this point.

The matter was then continued to September 3, 1996.

There was a break at 9:28 p.m.

The meeting reconvened at 9:35 p.m.

Item 6e
DiScuSSion 0f L0C~! M~ttCh for 1-580/680 Direct Connector Flyover Pro_iect and Priorit_v of
Funding for Tri-Valley TranSportation Projects. (SR96:247)

This item was continued to August 20, 1996.

Item 6f
Purchase Agreement for Fire Station Site. (SR96:227)

George Withers presented the staff report.
-- Mayor Tarver asked for public comment.

08/13/96
-16-
