Mr. Tarver asked if every time a use is changed, does the General Plan have to be changed? Mr. Swift indicated that is not the intent. If the General Plan had to list the allowed uses in the General Plan classification, it would be necessary to itemize all the uses in the Zoning Cede and that would turn the General Plan into a zoning ordinance. Staff is trying to include general language that says if a determination has been made through the Zoning process that a use is consistent with the policies of the General Plan and compatible with that zoning district, there therefore it is under the umbrella of that General Plan designation. It was moved by Ms. Dennis, second by Ms. Mohr, to add the following wording to the end of the third paragraph on page II-4: "Zoning designations include a specific ilst of uses allowed within a particular zone. These frequently include uses compatible with the main use but different in type, such as churches within industrial zones. The General Plan intent is to incorporate the variety of compatible uses which are generally allowed by the zoning districts-within each General Plan designation.
