Ms. Michelotti welcomed competition and agreed there was-a problem with the color
issue. She did not think the applicant would be coming to this area unless he felt there was a
market.

Ms. Dennis asked what the process wouM be if Council required a name and color
change.

Mr. Roush stated the applicant could suggest a name change and color. Staff would
provide an information memo on that and if there were concern, it could be put back on the
agenda.

It was moved by Ms. Dennis, seconded by Ms. Michelotti, to adopt Resolution No.
96-18, approving the application of Dean Nadem for a certificate of public convenience and
necessity to operate a taxi service in the City of Pleasanton, subject to a change in the
company name with no mention of "yellow", and the yellow color of the taxicabs.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis, Michelotti, Mohr, Pico, and Mayor Tarver
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

There was a break at 9:35 p.m.

Ms. Mohr left the meeting at 9:40 p.m. due to illness.

The meeting was reconvened at 9:45 p.m.

Item 6d
Discu.sSion of BART StatiOn Name, (3R96:44)

Gail Gilpin presented the staff report.

Council asked if there were a limit on the number of words to be used; any constraints
because of computer systems; was consideration of asking for a fee or selling the fight to use
the name.

Ms. Gilpin indicated there was no express limit and there has been no precedent for
selling a name.

-- Mark Sweeney, Hacienda Marketing and Sales, 4309 Hacienda Drive, supported the
name of Hacienda for the BART station because that is the destination. He felt that there will
be two stations. Since the station is in Hacienda Business Park and on Hacienda Drive, it seems

02/20/96 -12-
