The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver NOES: None ABSENT: Councilmember Mohr ABSTAIN: None Mr. Tarvet was in favor of the motion because it will give more alternatives before the final decision is made. It will also give the neighbors more opportunity to give their input on where the park should be and how much they want to pay for it. He felt it was better to have all the alternatives. Ms. Michelotti asked how this would affect the Spanos project? Mr. Tarvex did not feel that was appropriate to ask because ther~ is no project before the Council yet. Mr. Swift indicated the Spanos project, as proposed, would have to be modified in order to accommodate the 7-8 acre park on the southern portion of Lot 60. The same density could be maintained if the layout were changed, but there would be fewer units. Ms. Michelotti asked how long the option was open for this site? Mr. Sweeney indicated the offer was open until April 1, 1996. Item 6e ConceOtual review of an Affordable Housin~ Project pronosed by Eden Housing. Inc. (SR 96: 15) Steven Bocian presented the staff report. Mr. Tatver really appreciated staff bringing this to Council. Council needs to decide where staff should put its efforts. He acknowledged the need for affordable housing, but did not think 52 units on this site would be acceptable. He thought this was a bad location for this project and did not think now is the time to spend the time to get this accepted. Mr. Pico was also concerned about density in this location. Council is in the process of setting up an Affordable Housing Commission and this is the kind of project it should be reviewing. Eden has done a fabulous job in the Bay Area and he wants to work with the Company, but not on this project. Ms. Dennis asked how residents would get in and out with traffic on Santa Rita Road; even commercial development would have problems. She encouraged Eden to look elsewhere in Pleasanton. 01/16/96 -20-
