He had hoped the committee would <br />have come up with a plan that all neighborhoods would accept. He could not support the plan <br />when so many were against it. He felt this project created nothing but problems and offered no <br />benefits to the City. The issue is not the one way in or out, because it could be redesigned to <br />work. He would move this project to the bottom of the priority list. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked what was located to the east? <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said 95 acres of land owned by Kaiser Sand and Gravel. The General Plan <br />designates this land as light industrial and a 35 acre community park. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked if Busch Road would be extended to access this area once <br />developed? <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said yes. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked when that area is developed could there be two accesses into the <br />Ponderosa project. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said yes. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala said the General Plan has designated the area for housing and asked <br />Councilmember Pico if he disagreed with it? <br /> <br /> Mr. Plco believed the project was not acceptable by the community. Just because it is <br />in the General Plan did not mean it had to be built today. The project does not provide benefits <br />to the community that it deserved. He had hoped the ad hoc committee would have come up <br />with a plan that the neighbors could accept. He said 462 residents signed a petition opposed to <br />the project. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti commented that the plan is what the neighborhood indicated it wanted. <br />The neighborhood did not want affordable housing. She felt it was a good development plan. <br />She said the big picture needed to be looked at. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico said residential development does not pay for itself. There needed to be <br />something positive for the community in order for the neighborhoods to want to assume such <br />a liability. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarvet agreed with Councilmember Pico.
