(SR97:290) <br /> <br /> Brian Swift presented the staff report. <br /> <br />Item 6d(2) <br />Ordinance repealing Chapter 6,24 Of the Pleasanton Municipal Code and adopting a revised <br />Chapter 6.24 regulating massage services and massage establishments. (SR97:296) <br /> <br /> Michael Roush presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico asked about the noticing for this issue. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said the massage business and commercial businesses have been notified. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver said he had a speaker card from Beverly Lazar who supported the <br />amendments to the Pleasanton Municipal Code and thanked staff for its hard work. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico asked if other healing occupations using Eastern techniques were included in <br />this ordinance. He was concerned about certification requirements because of the lack of <br />accredited schools. <br /> <br /> Mr. Roush said meetings had been held with massage therapists to include all the types <br />of healing, body work and therapeutic massages. If something were to come up in the future, <br />the ordinance could be amended. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico felt the ordinance was too restrictive for people practicing these healing arts. <br />He felt it should be more flexible for these people. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver commented that Michelle Ford, a licensed esthetician, wanted to be <br />included in the ordinance. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Michelle Ford, 4870 Mason Street, said she is a licensed esthetician and felt she should <br />be included in the ordinance.
