Mayor Tarver said this issue was discussed with Supervisor Haggetty, who was very <br />supportive in taking whatever action needed to be done to prevent this from happening again. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti asked the location of the property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Smith said it was located at the end of Sportono hill. The developer plans to <br />demolish the existing home; build a new home on the hillside, outside the urban growth <br />boundary line; annex to the City; and then subdivide the lot to build multiple houses on the flat <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver said staff will open communication with the County to make sure the City <br />is notified of such proposed development in the future. <br /> <br /> Jan Batcheller, 644 St. Mary Street, representing the Chamber of Commerce, handed out <br />passes for the Technology Showcase to be sponsored by the Chamber on September 24, 25, and <br />26 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. There will be over 50 Tri-Valley businesses displaying <br />their use of the latest technology in a hands-on environment. She mentioned some of the <br />participants will be Mayor Tarver, City Manager Deborah Acosta, Congresswoman Ellen <br />Tauscher, State Senator Richard Rainey, Assemblywoman Liz Leach, and Assemblyman Michael <br />Sweeney. In addition, there will be a career expo, "Promoting Pleasanton Jobs for Pleasanton <br />Residents". She presented Council with T-shirts displaying the showcase logo. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver said it was a pleasure to be able to hold this showcase conference in the <br />Valley. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bocian also indicated the City would be sharing a booth with the School District. <br /> <br /> Ed Churka, 780 Main Street, requested a relief from the construction time limitations. <br />He felt this applied to residential areas and not commercial areas. He is constructing in the <br />downtown area where he found it to be quite noisy at all times of the day. Therefore he would <br />like an extension on the time in which to work. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked staff to explain the process of changing this limitation. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said to modify this limitation, an application would need to go to the Planning <br />Commission first and on to Council if necessary. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala asked if the condition was similar to that put on other construction projects <br />in the downtown area. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said the condition is put on projects where there were residential neighbors that <br />could potentially be affected.
