Ms. Ayala indicated she has always supported the path, but was concerned that it was
too far back for a child to get help if needed. She wanted to make certain that some system of
parental monitoring was established for the path. She had wanted assurance that it would be
used, but the indication that 116 children out of 465 appears enough to justify this.

Ms. Michelotti agreed with Ms. Ayala. She also stated Standard Pacific has indicated
the curb and gutters will be completed by September 6 along with a fence and paving in front
of the school. She requested that the fencing used on the other side of the path be innovative
and attractive but still keep people on the path.

The roll call vote was as followS;
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

It was moved by Mayor Tarver, seconded by Mr. Pico, to express Council's desire
to move forward to widen Cameron and to include a bike lane, based on recommendations
from the traffic calming committee.

The roll call vote was ~ fOll~w~:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarvet.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

It was moved by Mr. Pico, seconded by Ms. Dennis, to direct staff to place a high
level of priority on increased traffic enforcement in the Cameron/Martin area during school
hours until the pathway is completed and to include consideration of a three-way stop at
Cameron/Martin.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

There was a remark from the audience about whether the path would be meandering or
straight.

Ms. Ayala said it was to be meandering in order to be more aesthetically pleasing and
that children can still be seen from one end to the other.

Pleasanton City Council 08/26/97
Minutes 7
