(IR97:40)

Brian Swift presented the staff report.

Mayor Tarver was concerned about the layout of the lots being too close to Foothill
Road.

Mr. Swift said if it was too close to Foothill Road staff would not approve it. A number
of these lots do not have lot lines that are perpendicular. They are having a difficult time trying
to meet the set back requirement.

Mayor Tarver asked what prompted the modification?

Mr. Swift said Currin Construction applied to modify the setbacks to bring the houses
closer to Foothill Road. He said staff could not support this but could support relaxing the fence
setback.

Ms. Dennis said the houses that faced Foothill Road have the access through the
backyard. This is an odd arrangement. Could the houses be turned?

Mr. Swift said there is no requirement that the houses face Foothill Road. The only
requirement is that the houses that face Foothill Road have the same kind of architecture that you
normally would put on the front of a house.

Pleasanton City Council 07/15/97
Minutes 17
