Since it was determined there are no red legged frogs, then no
mitigation needed to be done.

Scott Steiner, Public Affairs Management, said the surveys were according to protocols
established by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. There were no red legged frogs found.
Therefore no mitigation is required. There is, however, mitigation required for the riparian
habitat that will be affected by the project.

Ms. Dennis said she was concerned about the red legged frog. Is it possible to take the
mitigation a little further and reintroduce the red legged frog back into the environment?

Joan Dulfield said she did all the biological studies required for this project. She found
no sign of red legged frogs. She said the mitigation for the riparian habitat will benefit the
environment for the red legged frog. An abundance of bullfrogs was found in this area. It is

Pleasanton City Council 07/15/97
Minutes 11
