Mayor Tarver said he would like to see the City join the Chamber of Commerce in the Leadership Pleasanton Program as it is a good program. It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to adopt Resolution No. 97-74, approving Co-sponsorship of Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce Leadership Pleasanton Program. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarvet. NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Ms. Michelotti said she would like the Pleasanton Gardens flood control measure to be accomplished in less than five years, if possible. Mayor Tarver agreed with Ms. Michelotti and suggested using some of the reserve funds to complete this project in a more timely manner. He did not want to see the Pleasanton Gardens flooded again. Mr. Lum said the watershed area at Kottinger and Second Street has been improved significantly during recent years with the upstream development that included a construction of detention basins. The present problem is that these detention basins need to be maintained and cleaned out. Staff expects to clean these out this summer. The other concern is the debris that might get caught in the creek during a heavy storm. With a proper operating system there is significant capacity in the channel, so that is why it was included in the five year plan. Ms. Ayala asked if the maintenance that would be done in the first two years would take care of the situation? Mr. Lum said the maintenance that is planned would provide an adequate margin of safety. He said staff would look at moving this up in the next CIP cycle. It was moved by Mr. Pico, and seconded by Ms. Michelotti, to adopt Resolution No. 97-73, approving a five year Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 1997/98 through 2001/02.
