Ms. Acosta said there are usually penalties involved when paying off the bonds early.
Staff will look at the option of paying them off.

Mayor Tarver declared the public heating open.

Patricia Jocobson, 4100 Graham Street, said she was pleased to hear that there was a
target date for the installation of a traffic signal in front of the Amador High School. She told
Council about many accidents that have happened at this intersection, including an accident
involving herself.

Mr. Bocian said the City hoped to have everything planned for the signal by the time
school started and the construction to be done by the end of 1997.

Leigh Syphers, 4081 Churchill Drive, said she was pleased to see the Amador traffic
signal included in the budget. She has worked on getting a traffic signal at this school for two
years. She urged the City traffic department to work closely with the Amador Valley High
School administration so the traffic signal will be placed at the safest location. She urged
Council to vote yes for this traffic signal.

Dom Summa, 5816 Corte Margarita, wanted to thank Council for its support for the
Pleasanton Library. He told Council what the Library had purchased with the allocated money
and hoped the Council would again this year allocate more funds.

Bruce Fiedler, Pleasanton Gardens, said he supported the flood control measures for St.
Mary Creek that are found in the Capital Improvement Program. He urged the City to provide
public safety by ensuring the proper maintenance of this water course and structures.

There being no further testimony, the public hearing was closed.

Mayor Tarver commented Council would be approving a multi-million dollar budget and
it is able to do this with ease because of the great staff that put it together. The City is able to
offer great services to the residents of Pleasanton.

It was moved by Ms. Ayala, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to adopt Resolution No.
97-72, adopting the 1997/98-1998/99 Operating Budget and Community Development Block
Grant Program.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Pleasanton City Council 6/17/97
Minutes 8
