Barry Miller, 7880 Cypress Creek Court, representing the Golden Eagle Homoowners
Association, wanted to thank Council for its position with respect to Mr. Currin's appeal but
with regard to what the ultimate disposition will be, the homoowners would like to stand silent
on that issue this evening.

Yetta Dellart, 2173 Inverness Court, presented to City Council petitions opposed to the
appeal. She said the applicant has been living in the adobe for well over a year, despite the
current zoning and the instruction to vacate from the City of Pleasanton.

Abu Farukh, 8531 Lupine Court, said from day one Mr. Currin knew what the neighbors
wanted, but he keeps coming up with different ideas. Mr. Farukh asked how many more
meetings before this issue would be setfled?

Ms. Michelotti said at least two more meetings.

Mayor Tarver said Mr. Curfin has the right to submit an application. He hoped Mr.
Curfin is sincere in this decision.

Ms. Ayaia said perhaps Mr. Curfin would make a good faith effort and withdraw the
appeal.

Mr. deWitt, 8012 Golden Eagle Way, said he supported the adobe being a residence.

Bev Javaheft, 2113 Cascara Court, said a commercial use would not fit into the
neighborhood.

There being no further testimony, the public hearing was closed.

Mr. Curfin said he would like to withdraw the application and then apply for a residential
use. He said he would keep the Homoowners Associations updated during the process.

Mr. Pico commented he would still like staff to look at alternative uses. He felt the
adobe is a historical structure which should be preserved and shared with the community.

Ms. Michelotti said from the beginning the concept was that the adobe would be a
community building. In 1989 the current zoning was adopted. It changed from a public
building to one that would generate revenue for the owner. Prior to this, the thought was if it
became a meeting place the City would have some control over the building. She said it would
be appropriate for an application to be submitted as to what is desired by the residents and the
applicant.

Pleasanton City Council 6/17/97
Minutes 15
