Mayor Tarver said that was not an issue. He again asked for a show of hands regarding
the following issues: traffic safety; property values; no neighborhood benefit; three schools in
the area; privacy; no compatibility with the neighborhood; and those that just did not want it.

(Again, there were many.)

Mike Butler, 2824 Garden Creek Circle, commented on the full service church in the
area and the traffic that will be generated by this project. He asked Council to listen to the
voice of the people. ELI is not a proper fit for the community.

Diane Butler, 2824 Garden Creek Circle, felt that Pleasanton has excellent schools and
said that ELI does not have any experience with seventh and eighth graders. Why does this
neighborhood have to be a testing ground? There is already too much development approved
for this area. Council has an opportunity to stop this now before someone gets hun from the
additional traffic in the future.

Pat O'Brien, 27 Castledown Road, said that elementary schools are not a bad thing in
the neighborhoods. Property values are driven by the quality of the public and private education
opportunities. ELI brings a choice to the community. He would like to see Council and the
neighborhood work together to reach a resolution.

Holly Baumback, 2982 Garden Creek Circle, said her concern is noise. The site is too
close to her home. She needs peace and quiet and urged the Council to vote no.

Mayor Tarver asked for a show of hands regarding the following issues: traffic safety;
property values; no neighborhood benefit; three schools; privacy; no compatibility with the
neighborhood; Stoneridge Drive extension adds more traffic; parking; dropoffs; and those that
just do not want it.

(Again, there were many.)

Travis Finch, 3808 Stone Pointe Way, asked what demand needs this project meets. The
Heasanton Unified School District is one of the top rated school districts in the area. Why is
this neighborhood being asked to bear the load. This project is only benefitring the developer
and the City of Pleasanton. He urged Council to vote no.

Sy Kamal, 2594 Glen Avenue, said this project only will increase traffic. He urged
Council to vote no.

Mayor Tarver commented that people were repeating themselves and the following issues
had been covered: traffic safety; property values; no neighborhood benefit; three schools,
privacy, no compatibility with the neighborhood; Stoneridge Drive extension adds more traffic,
parking, dropoffs and those that just do not want it.

Pleasanton City Council 8 3/18/97
Minutes
