Ms. Bengtson indicated a Program Committee would be formed and explained the various <br />steps to be followed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala asked how many students would be involved? <br /> <br /> Ms. Bengtson believed that no more than 25 would be involved. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti indicated the School District is supportive of this program. <br /> <br /> Liz Saint Hill, 1065 Serpentine Lane #B, YMCA representative, thanked Council for its <br />support of this program. She stated that all California YMCAs are involved in similar programs <br />and every year over 2,000 students go to Sacramento to participate in the Legislature. She <br />looked forward to working with Pleasanton on this program. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Ms. Dennls, to (1) support the annual <br />Pleasanton Youth in Government Day Program; (2) approve a proposal by the YMCA East <br />Bay to provide technical assistance in implementing the 1997 program; and (3) approve a <br />budget amendment to allocate $1,700 from the General Fund to support the program. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Item 6d <br />Policy Discussion and Direction to Staff as to how Development AppH¢~tiqnS arc t0 be <br />Processed for Pro_iects that Bear on the Need to Construct the WeSt Las P0SitaS <br />Interchange. (SR97:21) <br /> <br /> Brian Swift presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis asked when the applicant would agree to the proposed new conditions. Is <br />there a requirement that applications be approved by Council? <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift responded that Council has the same flexibility it always has had to approve <br />or disapprove an application. However, if it approves a project, staff is suggesting that the three <br />new conditions be added as standard conditions. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti asked for confirmation regarding paragraph #3 (page 1 of the staff report) <br />that a future moratorium would also take a four-fifths vote of the Council to enact. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift indicated that was correct. <br /> <br /> 7 1/07/97 <br /> <br /> <br />
