Mayor Tarver said this community will participate in any review regarding the planning
of the West Dublin BART station. He saw no reason to change the process in having a
collaborative process with the Dublin Council in a committee arrangement.

Ms. Michelotti said the committee would not be making any decisions. The committee
would be only making proposals. The liaison members can report back to the Council regularly
and get advice. A public hearing could be held or a joint Council meeting with Dublin could
be held.

Mayor Tarver felt it was a difficult situation. He said the committee would need to be
more informed than the general public that will testify.

Ms. Dennis asked if Councilmember Pico wished to serve on the committee.

Ms. Michelotti said it made sense to use the working liaison committee.

Ms. Dennis said the LAFTA and CMA representatives also would serve well on the
committee. She was concerned about being involved in the planning process without a
Councilmember present to voice public comment.

Ms. Michelotti said the Council talks about regional participation, working and partnering
with the neighbors, and how to better serve the community, so why wouldn't the Council want
to be involved in the planning process to express its viewpoint. She was open to all of the
meetings being open to the public.

Ms. Dennis agreed. She said there are residents very interested in transportation issues.

Ms. Michelotti said it is not only transportation issues but the whole issue of the Dublin
BART station. It is achieving the ability to get additional parking that is needed so desperately.

Ms. Dennis felt Council needed to participate to represent the interested residents.

Mayor Tarver suggested holding the meetings in the Pleasanton City Council Chambers,
have them open to the public, and have them televised.

Ms. Dennis asked if any of these issues had been discussed with Dublin.

Ms. Acosta said no.

Ms. Dennis said the issues can be raised regarding the level of concern in the community
and the preliminary ad-hoc committee meetings being open to the public.

Pleasanton City Council 15 10/06/98
Minutes
