The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Pico
ABSTAIN: None

Item 6e
Discussion regarding creating a committee of the City Council for West Dublin BART
station planning. (SR98:254)

Mayor Tarver said originally he was enthusiastic about participating but has since
changed his opinion. He said he has made critical comments about having Councilmembers talk
with development interests before the public hearing process, getting questions answered, and
having exchange of information which is outside the public process. He felt this was not a good
thing to have done by committees outside the public process and therefore would not be willing
to serve on such a committee.

Ms. Michelotti said Councilmember Ayala and she already participate on a liaison
committee with Dublin.

Ms. Ayala felt it was important to be involved in all phases of any kind of development
discussion. She looked forward to working jointly on a project with Dublin. She supported
working with Dublin many years ago on an existing BART station but nothing was pursued.
She does not want to miss a second opportunity to work with Dublin. She felt the liaison
committee has served the community well working with Dublin. She would welcome serving
on the committee and would represent the public well.

Ms. Michelotti said the liaison committee brings back information to the Council. She
was excited about participating in the planning process. She felt the BART station needed to
be jointly planned.

Ms. Michelotti felt she had the planning expertise and would be glad to be on the
committee.

Ms. Dennis asked about the public participation aspect of the committee. She understood
Mayor Houston said the committee was being established as an ad-hoc committee. Does this
mean he did not want the public involved?

Ms. Michelotti said any meeting would be open to the public.

Pleasanton City Council 14 10/06/98
Minutes
