Sue Acton, 225 Ray Street, said the car show has outgrown the City of Pleasanton. She
lives at the corner of Ray Street and Walnut. She was up late at night with horns honking,
hollering and obnoxious people and the next day she found trash and broken glass in her yard.
She asked if the City could provide temporary trash receptacles in the residential area. Also
there is not enough parking spaces in the downtown area for these events. She asked if it would
be possible to provide public transportation from the BART Station and/or the Fairgrounds. She
said Friday night is a major commute night and asked if the event could be moved to Saturday
night.

Ms. Dennis said the Pleasanton Garbage Service had some very nice trash receptacles
on Main Street and perhaps they could be asked to put some of those in the residential area.
She concurred with her about the parking and mentioned the City is working on resolving the
issue.

Ms. Acton said she had gone out to dinner that evening and when she returned she found
a family lounging on her front lawn. She was very frustrated by this and the amount of trash
that had been left on her lawn.

Ms. Michelotti said Craig Scharton, Pleasanton Downtown Association, has been
informed about all the concerns. She agreed there was not enough parking and said the City is
working on resolving the issue.

Ms. Acton said people will not use the shuttle if they have to pay for it.

Mayor Tarver said staff works closely with the events coordinators to try and resolve the
issues/concerns brought up and he appreciated her input. He wanted to comment that the car
show is organized by the P-Town Push Club and not the Good Guys.

Ms. Acosta said the comments will be taken to the "after event" meetings. She said one
of the issues with this event is the size. Sometimes the events become too large for the
community to manage and this will be looked at during the meetings. She said she would
inform Ms. Acton of the outcome of those meetings.

Ms. Ayala had received comments from the public regarding the lack of porta potties.

Ms. Michelotti said during the event the crowd was not unruly and 'there was high
visibility of the Police. She said the police did an excellent job.

Kris Kumaran, 6450 Calle Esperanza, had a concern with the annual traffic counts for
the 1998 Baseline study. He said at buildout, approximately 2010, twenty-five intersections with
the West Las Positas interchange had a level of service F and twenty-nine intersections without

Pleasanton City Council 7 09/01/98
Minutes
