Mr. Rasmussen said the Planning Commission said to prepare a plan and take it to the
City Council with direction to have some screening or not to have it visible to the outlying areas.

Ms. Dennis said the Planning Commission did not know because it was a new plan.
Ms. Michelotti asked if the Planning Commission knew where the location was.

Mr. Rasmussen said there was no plan at the time. It was a verbal proposal that since
has turned into the plan presented.

Ms. Dennis suggested to add a condition that a visual analysis be prepared prior to
construction. So Council is sure it knows what it will be looking at when the project is done.

Ms. Michelotti asked if the location was within thirty feet of where the location Ms.
Dennis was considering?

Ms. Dennis said she was considering staff's recommendation.

Ms. Michelotti asked if that was thirty feet above the roadway that goes up to where the
house is now.

Ms. Dennis said yes.

Mayor Tarver said he was willing to look at offering some flexibility and did not mind
having the visual analysis, but wanted to give the Spotornos the opportunity to bring back
something that Council might accept.

Ms. Ayala asked if the Spotornos would be moving out of their existing house.
Mr. Rasmussen believed the Spotornos were going to stay in their existing home.
A1 Spotorno said no.

Ms. Dennis said the existing home is not going anywhere.

Ms. Ayala pointed to the bypass road. Thirty feet from the bypass road might be a little
too close. She would like to explore this. She agreed with Mayor Tarver and felt the
Spotorno's should have the option to come back with variations subject to visual analysis.

Ms. Michelotti had a concern with the visual aspect.

Mayor Tarver said according to neighbors, City Council and Planning Commission they
got a deal.

Pleasanton City Council 26 06/16/98
Minutes
