The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Boardmembers - Gunson, Kernan, McGovern, and President Haugen.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Boardmember Bassett
ABSTAIN: None

Ms. Michelotti asked if he had any preference if one of those committee members would
be from the Valley Care Health system.

Mr. Pico said he preferred to have the members of the committee determine where the
gaps are in the makeup of the committee.

Ms. Haugen supported the motion, she agreed that the Library Commission needed to
be part of the committee.

Mr. Gunson had a concern with how the four at-large people would be selected. She would like the committee to first be established
and then give them input if needed.

Ms. Haugen said usually parameters are set up for committees and commissions. Are
there going to be any parameters for this committee.

Ms. Acosta said typically the committee is selected and they would develop a Scope of
Work and bring it back to the Council and School District.

It was moved by Mr. Pico, and seconded by Ms. McGovern, to develop a Request
for Proposals; secure administrative support to prepare notices, maintain records and
research materials, and coordinate scheduling for a major community study; and direct the
Steering Committee to provide monthly updates to the City Council and Board of Trustees;
develop a time line to complete the Master Plan by September 1999.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, and Pico.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Mayor Tarvet
ABSTAIN: None

Joint Meeting 6 06/04/98
School Board/City Council
Minutes
