She supported the General Plan and the Steering Committee's <br />efforts, but she is trying to honor her commitments to the people who supported her ideas. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver remembered when the Staples Ranch Specific Plan was approved in 1989 <br />there were long public hearings and compromises that were made. He has not heard from many <br />of the people that were involved in that process. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti asked if Mayor Tarver supported the affordable housing, the lighted <br />sports park and completion of the infrastructure. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver felt the majority of the Council had already made up its mind regarding <br />the extension of Stoneridge Drive and what it would support when the study is completed. The <br />issues he wanted in the study were all the ones the community brought up. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti. <br />NOES: Mayor Tarver <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Pico <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Tarver, and seconded by Ms. Ayala, that the scope of the <br />study would include the airport noise, traffic circulation, schools, open space, the Arroyo, <br />land use, and growth management. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Micbelotti, and Mayor Tarver. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Pico <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis felt choosing a committee would be a hard task. It is hard to make all the <br /> people happy. She mentioned communications she had received that suggested people with a <br /> financial interest should be excluded. She did not agree with that. As an advocate for the <br /> people's interests she has always been involved in processes that have been more inclusive. She <br /> had a difficult time with excluding people from the process. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti said she could go either way depending upon the desire of the Council. <br /> She is the most familiar with an open process where the people go through a selection process. <br /> She felt the people who would be directly impacted should be on the committee. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala suggested that the Council be the committee and hold community workshops <br /> to receive public input, making sure the whole community is represented.
