Ms. Michelotti asked if Ms. Ayala's intention is to hold a series of workshops with the
community on various issues outlined in the scope of study and that decisions would be made
as the process proceeded.

Ms. Ayala said yes. For example, the people concerned with the airport noise would
only have to attend that particular workshop.

Ms. Michelotti felt this was a good approach but she wanted to make certain that the
community would have the oppommity to participate.

Ms. Dennis suggested continuing the decision on structure of the committee to another
meeting to give people time to think about it and make suggestions in writing.

Mayor Tarver thought that was a good idea. He said it is less important to him now that
the scope of study had been decided. He wondered how many would actually show up for an
open forum now that the area had been decided. He was concerned that the same result would
be reached as with the Ponderosa property.

Ms. Michelotti felt the subject should be discussed at the priorities workshop.

Mayor Tarver said at the priority workshop, the priority would be established, then a
hearing would be held to determine the structure of the committee.

Ms. Michelotti said if anyone in the audience had any alternatives, (other than what has
been heard), regarding how the structure of the committee should be structured, to please submit
those recommendations to staff.

Item 4q
Ordinance No. 1743, regarding telecommunications facilities

Brian Swift presented the staff report.

Mayor Tarver declared the public hearing open.

Brad Hirst, 1811 Santa Rita Road, #128, representing Sprint PCS said Sprint's goal is
to provide optimal customer service for products that are in great demand. He felt there will
be many more wireless transmission services and transmission facilities in the future of this
country, state, region and Pleasanton. He reminded Council that Pleasanton is a regional
headquarters for the telecommunications industry and a world headquarters for one of the
affected parties. The wireless facilities group has worked long and hard and everyone has
compromised. Probably no one is in complete agreement with the ordinance as proposed by
staff but perhaps that is a good thing. Since the Council meeting of April 21 there has been
several modifications to the ordinance. Sprint PCS agrees with those modifications.
