the majority who supported the Ponderosa process. She also was disappointed in the support
she has received from the Council.

Mayor Tarver recapped the concerns he has heard thus far: airport noise problems,
potential traffic, plans for the Arroyo, overcrowded schools, piecemeal versus inclusive
development, size of the sports park, to include or not to include Staples Ranch and Kaiser
properties, regional impacts, cut through traffic, and the extension of Stoneridge Drive. He
asked the remaining speakers to please not repeat what has already been said.

Shirley Lauer, 2221 Martin Avenue, asked that the Martin/Mohr area not be included in
the study. She mentioned the annexation occurred on April 17. The PUD was appwved last
January and residents are pulling building permits. She did feel someone in the Martin/Molar
area should be on the committee.

Judy Symcox, 1450 Groth Circle, understood that all the data supported the extension of
Stoneridge Drive. The arterial analysis supported her case that the Valley Avenue traffic was
never intended to be a single east/west route. She did not want all the traffic dumped out on
Valley Avenue and Busch Road. Regardless of the number on the committee, it must be
proportionately represented and the 204 individual land owners that back up to Valley Avenue
have a right to voice their opinions. She listed all the streets that she felt should be represented
on the committee. She hoped the committee members would be by location and longevity in the
community and that all the neighborhoods would be represented.

There being no further testimony, the public hearing was closed.

There was a break at 10:00 p.m.

The meeting reconvened at 10: 08 p.m.

It was moved by Mayor Tarver, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to delay the decision
concerning the priority of the study until the May 26, 1998 workshop.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Pico
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Tarver asked if there were any comments about the study.

Ms. Dennis asked why the map was drawn as it was?

Pleasanton City Council 19 05105/98
Minutes
