Mr. Roush said if Council wanted it on the June ballot, it would have to be decided <br />tonight. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Pico, seconded by Mayor Tarver to place this on the November <br />1998 ballot. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti made a substitute motion to place this issue on the June 1998 ballot. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis made a further substitute motion, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to place this <br />issue on the June 1998 ballot and if not, to hold a special election. <br /> <br /> Mr. Roush said there needed to be a special meeting between now and Thursday to bring <br />back the ballot language. <br /> <br /> There was discussion among Council as to when to hold the special meeting. It was <br />decided to hold the special meeting on Thursday, March 5, at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Mr. Roush said staff needed an idea as to when Council would want to hold the special <br />election because there were administrative items that needed to be done. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarvet said there was only five months to November. If Council wanted a special <br />election it should do it as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> Peggy Ezidro, City Clerk, said the Registrar's office believes that a special election <br />cannot be held for a Council sponsored initiative. It has to be done by a petition driven <br />initiative. <br /> <br /> Mr. Roush said there may be a problem having the election in August or September. <br /> <br /> (All the above motions were withdrawn.)
