Ms. Roush encouraged Council to support the music programs in Pleasanton. She <br />congratulated the winter percussion and color guards from Amador Valley for their great job in <br />Riverside. <br /> <br /> Mr. Field said he and Ryan Huff were fortunate enough to participate in the civics <br />program at Amador Valley High School. His team took second place at the State <br />championships. He appreciated the programs, such as the Youth in Government Day. He felt <br />the programs were paramount for the youth as they embark upon society. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver thanked the students who participated in Youth in Government Day. He <br />said he appreciated the time and efforts put forth by the students. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti asked if any of the students had any comments. <br /> <br /> Megan Roush thanked the City of Pleasanton for allowing her to learn more about city <br />government and how it works. <br /> <br /> David Bird thanked the police officers who participated in Youth in Government Day. <br /> <br /> Damon Field thanked the Finance Department. <br /> <br /> Ryan Huff and Tara Sweet thanked the Fire Department. <br /> <br /> Jason Mansour said it was an interesting day. He thanked the City of Pleasanton for <br />allowing the students to participate. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta said it was a pleasure having the students. <br /> <br /> Jasleen Dhillon, Youth Commissioner, requested better bus transportation for students <br />to and from school. She asked if Pleasanton had any intention of starting school busing again. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico said it is the LAVTA Board's responsibility to ensure the best possible transit <br />system in the Valley. He mentioned the Wheels bus system had tripper runs with the middle <br />schools and high schools, which coincided with the bell times to provide additional <br />transportation. He described the summer pass program where a student could buy a pass for <br />$15.00 per month and this allowed a student unlimited bus passage. He indicated the LAVTA <br />Board could make a presentation to the Youth Commission and hear the Youth Commission's <br />concerns and alternatives. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis said the City has been working with parents of the elementary schools for <br />alternatives ways to transport their children to school and could do the same thing with the <br />middle and high schools.
