Mayor Tarver said this is a major enhancement of services and shows Pleasanton's <br /> commitment to the senior community. He thanked everyone that was involved for their hard <br /> work in putting this together. He felt the time line was realistic. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti was glad to see the plan included an education process for drivers and <br />participants. She thought it was good to emphasize the importance of handling the citizens that <br />would be riding in the vehicles. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked for public testimony. <br /> <br /> Melanie Bentley, Human Service Commissioner, said this plan is highly recommended <br />by the Human Service Commission and asked for Council's support. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Pico, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to approve the enhanced <br />service alternative proposed by Nelson/Nygaard and expanded service/policy <br />recommendations of the Paratransit Policy Task Force; approve the Modified <br />Implementation Plan; authorize the procurement of two (2) additional mini-buses, one (1) <br />in FY 1998/99, another in FY 1999/00 at a total estimated cost of $100,000; purchase an <br />automated scheduling system in FY 1998/99 (software, hardware, installation and training <br />at an estimated cost of $25,000); and authorize the development of printed program <br />materials to market the paratransit service at an estimated cost of $7,500. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> There was a break at 8:37 p.m. <br /> <br /> The meeting reconvened at 8:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Item 6c <br />AP-98-04/Z-98-145, Diane and Edward Churka (Coffee Roast Express) <br />Appeal of the Planning Commission's denial of the application for design review approval <br />to allow the use of the second-floor attic space for an additional 2,450 sq.ft. of commercial <br />office space in a building under construction located at 780 Main Street and to meet the off- <br />street parking requirements throu_ah on-site parking requirements and through an in-lien <br />0arking atreement.
