Project, and the mitigation measures which will be imposed in
connection with future approvals necessary for development of
the Project site, have mitigated or will mitigate ai~quality
impacts of the Project to a level of insignificance.

G. Noise.

1o Facts.

The DEIR indicates at page 61 that noise levels along
Foothill Road would increase due to traffic impacts at the
Project, and also states that noise levels along Interstate 80
would adversely affect all but the westernmost portion of the
Project site. The DEIR concludes at page 61 that noise levels
outside the second story of the homes nearest the freeway would
reach a level of 73 decibels, which level does not meet the
General Plan Goals and Policies.

Three mitigation measures relating to noise are
incorporated into the Project, as discussed on page 62 of the
DEIR. These include the construction of a 16-foot sound wall
along the frontage of the Project site with Interstate 680, a
40-foot acoustic buffer zone and trail easement, and the
location and design of homes to minimize freeway noise.

In addition, the Final EIR includes on page 6 one
additional recommended mitigation measure for the construction
of a sound wall along Foothill Road and Bernal Avenue, which
sound wall will only be constructed if future noise levels'
exceed residential standards and if such a wall can be

18
